It seems to me as though I’ve got so much of nothing
all my achievements have garnered me no gain
Oh, I’ve got the status and people know who I am,
but I don’t know who I am...and I can hardly stand the pain.

I’m without friends now though I used to have many
Sure, I’ve got money but it can’t take their place
And I’m known as a traitor because of my position,
and I’m given no respect because of my ways.

Well, I’m up in a tree for the whole world to see
that my life’s truly empty inside.
Power and wealth have always nourished my flesh,
but my soul has had nowhere to hide.

So, I’m up in a tree looking for a release
when Jesus calls to me, "Quickly come down."
Seeking true life had driven me to new heights
but He set me free when I fell to the ground.
Yes, He set me free when I fell back to the ground.

The hole in my life could never be mended
the gap in my soul would never be filled.
Until I found liberation in the top of a sycamore tree
where my Savior granted a pardon, when I was scheduled to be killed.

Chorus

Jesus came to seek and save the lost...to find the ones like me...
But my deliverance would cost Him His life........He died on a tree...

Chorus
