We packed our things and left behind the places we called home,
Halfway ‘cross the country and all alone.
Adventure in our heads, and excitement on our tongues,
Were blocking out the fear of the unknown.

Six months down the road we stood in total disbelief,
When broken dreams lie crushed beneath our feet.
The sudden loss of warmth and firm security,
Assured us that our fall was now complete.

And the winters can be colder than my heart can take,
When the bitter wind stings against my face.
Now the only solace left to find is Your embrace.
And the promise that an endless summer awaits.

Fifteen years we’d been together when I said goodbye,
When they laid you in the ground, I barely cried.
But lately every night, the feeling I desire,
Is waking up with you here by my side.

Other people try to help, but often when they call.
They only bring reminders of what is gone.
I know I’ll make it through, and the pain will someday thaw,
But spring can seem an awful long way off.

Chorus

The sun comes out in glory, to chase away the rain.
The Son comes out in glory, to chase away the pain.
And Lord I wonder how it is that others try to cope,
Without you there to fill them with new hope(’Cause the winters)

Chorus
