The grass along the road is growing taller,
And the hometown in my mirror’s getting smaller,
And I look ahead to blue sky, stretched out past the point where I can see.
Life is flying by with each endeavor,
Like these stripes that lead me on to my forever.
But here is where the time stops, my thoughts allowed to wander and be free.

Chorus:
I’m dreaming while I’m driving, of all my future paths that I could take.
I’m thinking while I’m singing, of the many foolish turns that I have made.
But still I’m on this road, a journey full of hope,
And every day I’m closer to my goal, of going home.

The clouds are rolling in and growing darker,
Like the wells are drying up for every farmer,
And these fields of old iron horses, don’t run as much as what they used to do.
Doubt is creeping in to my sub-conscience,
And my faith has never been known to move mountains,
But here is where it takes hold, of a distant light that’s guiding my way through.

Chorus

The scenery would not be all that striking,
But the sunsets can sometimes be distracting,
Luring weary eyes, to look off to the sides,
Away from the perfect view that lies, just up ahead.

Chorus
